Welcome to Sarah’s After School Program! We hope that this school year will be an enjoyable one. The goal for our After School Program is simple – everyone has fun. We expect the children to arrive at Sarah’s ready for a change of pace after a hard day at school.
THE STAFF
Our After School Program has a seasoned and qualified staff of four people to ensure that your child’s time here is as pleasant as possible. Miss Erica is the program supervisor. Please talk with her about any concerns you may have about your child or about our program.
DAILY ROUTINE
Upon arrival from school we check roll to see that each child is accounted for. The children are served a snack. From 4 to 5 p.m. the homework room is open and supervised for quietness. Those children with homework may take this time to complete their assignments. Children without homework may play inside and outside.
ABSENT? CALL US
Call us by 2:30 p.m. if your child will not be in after-school care. We must be consistent in this area and accountable to assure the safety of your child. Expect a phone call if you forget to report an absence.
CARPOOLS
Parents with children in extra curricular activities can ask about children with similar activities. We will attempt to connect parents with children who need transportation for religion, dancing, soccer, scouts, karate, etc.
HOUSE RULES
The rules for the after school program’s facility are simple:
-
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
-
Walk inside and use inside voices.
-
Eat only at snack time.
-
Ask permission before going outside.
-
Pick up after yourself.
-
Flush the toilet after use and wash your hands.
-
Be polite and courteous to everyone.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
Our discipline policy calls for the use of “Time Out” in order to deal with children who require behavior control. No child shall be the subject of physical punishment, corporal punishment, verbal abuse or threats. No child or group of children shall be allowed to discipline another child.
Parents of children having difficult times will be informed by the staff. Persistent unacceptable behavior problems can result in a child being removed from the After School Program. Please take immediate action to curb behavior problems you are made aware of before they become unmanageable.
SCHOOL PROPERTY
Children are to respect all property while at Sarah’s. This includes the proper handling of toys, games and equipment that are here for the enjoyment of all children. All toys, games, equipment and supplies are to be returned to the proper place when finished. Willful destruction of school property will not be tolerated.
CHILD ABUSE
Any person employed by Sarah’s having cause to believe that a child’s mental or physical health or welfare has been or may be further adversely affected by abuse or neglect will inform the Director immediately. It is the obligation of the Director to file a report with the local Child Protection Agency. This is the law in Louisiana.
FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS
Tuition is payable in advance. The school depends on each month’s tuition to pay current expenses. Since many of our bills are payable at the beginning of the month all fees are due prior to the month of attendance. Unless you have made other arrangements with the Director pay each month’s tuition on or before the first day of the month.
PAYMENT IN THE EVENT THAT YOU WITHDRAW FROM THE PROGRAM
Each child is enrolled for the entire school term or summer session. Two weeks prior notice or payment of two eeek's tuition is due upon the child's withdrawal from the program.
EXTRA TIME AT SARAH’S
When children are out of school for holidays, conference days or in-service days please check with us to be sure that our facility will be open all day. On days that we can provide a full day’s care there is a charge of $9.00 per day for the extra time.

Until the arrival of a parent, an ambulance or paramedics the Director or Program Supervisor will be in charge and make all decisions about the care of the child.
